Last week in Australia...
First of all.. I have given up my training logs.. I may update them later.. probably not. I'm not even bothering to start my watch on my training sessions right now... why get data when you're not going to write it down? Swimming and cycling have become a bit of a challenge lately... our pool closed down for the season, so we have to cycle about 10k to the Adelaide Aquatic Center. Going off daylight savings has made it harder to get a decent ride before sundown after I finish work each day. Riding with lights in the hills is suicide... so I'm not going to try that. Ah well.... home soon enough where the days are getting longer.Forgot to mention before... went out for beers on the last night of the Fringe festival (march 31) and was at a bar with all these foreign beers. Turns out they had Kokanee! So.. just for a lark, I order Heather and I Kokanee. The bartender opens the beers, hands them to me and says $19! Ouch. I think I'll wait til I'm back to Canada to taste another Kokanee!
Watched a really good Australian movie over the easter holidays called Kenny. It is brilliant... and very, very funny. Everyone in North America... see if you can find it in your local video store. Those in Calgary can try Casablanca video.
On another note, I'll be flying from Sydney to LAX on April 22. I will be spending 1 week in Newport Beach before returning on April 28 to Calgary. Still not 100% sure of the plan after that.. trying to find a place to stay in Calgary for at least a week while I sort out some stuff there.
And finally, I'm off to my first "footy" game today! That's Australian rules football (AFL) for those unfamiliar. It's like a cross between rugby and soccer I suppose... that's the best way I can explain it. The two teams in Adelaide are playing each other, so it should be a fairly eventful game. I hear the fans can get pretty rowdy.... so it should be fun.

1 Comments:
LOL, Footy makes North American Football look like figure skating.
Enjoy your last week down under.
