Woo! First 10k win!
First real race in a while.. if you can call it that. The 10k only had about 25-30 entrants. I think maybe 15 men. I won the race easily in 36:11. About what I expected given my current level of fatigue and training this year. Yes, yes.. I'm making excuses, I really wanted the sub-36! Anyways, my time shows I have the fitness to break 1:20 at the Chinook Half in a little over two weeks... so I'm happy with that.
Oh yeah.. I'm selling my Devinci Millenium road bike... cheap! $500 obo. I never ride it much... and it needs new tires and a seatpost clamp, and there is dent in the top-tube ( but not enough to ruin the frame integrity). Full 9spd ultegra, 700c Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels, size small. Fits 5'8" perfect.
irony
So.. I'm back to drinking coffee. Not such a big deal I guess. I lamented to my friend (the one who convinced me to give it up in the first place) that I didn't have any good travel mugs anymore. So she gifted me a Starbucks travel mug today! (Btw, thanks!) Now that's ironic...
13 days...
That's how long I lasted without coffee. I didn't even crave it anymore, but I am sitting at the coffee shop and just wanted to have a cup. It will be interesting to see how wired I get off one cup. I still plan to try and stay off coffee til Easter after this one cup.
no coffee - one week
One week... and I haven't touched any coffee. I feel great! I don't seem to have any problems completing my workouts or doing my job. Instead of the usual headaches.. I was excessively fatigued for the first 4-5 days. I'm calm and focused now. Wasn't as hard as I imagined.
I've tentatively added the world ITU Long Course champs to my schedule for those paying attention to my race schedule. I'm trying to formulate a plan to go to OZ next winter.
However, I have very recently been told of a job opportunity that may change my life completely.... stay tuned...
No coffee for 40 days? Insanity!!!
So... my friend who attended catholic school in her youth explained to me
Lent. Apparently people give up something for 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday and she challenged me to try and give up something. I was feeling a bit strung-out from the enormous amount of coffee I had consumed in order to get through the last week... a stressful move to my new place. So, foolish me, I decided I would try to give up coffee (and other caffeine beverages).
I'm on my third day now, and I've replaced coffee with caffeine free
Rooibos Ginger Tea. I'm tired, but I'm feeling a strange sense of calmness I have not felt in a long time. We shall see how long I last, I NEED coffee to work productively and train.
BTW, Rooibos tea is amazing healthy for you, I recommend it as an alernative to those crappy fruity herbal teas.
