Cross Country season..
I competed in SAIT's ACAC cross-country race as an open competitor last weekend. Nothing like cross country to remind you how to really hurt! 8k of grass, hills, wind. I actually had an ok race, I've been working hard to get my running back in shape, and I think I'm faster than last year at this time. Hopefully this will add up to a good run in Canberra.
For those in Alberta, there is the Red Deer College cross country race this Saturday, September 23. Registration is at Room 1607 at the south-west corner of the college til 11:30 or so. Women's 5k race starting at noon, Men's 8k race starts at 12:45. Cost is $5. Open to anyone... and a modest meal included after the race (sandwiches).

IMC qualifying... for those interested...
Interesting post on the Great White North message board from Wade the RD:
...the GWN will no longer be offering qualifying spots for IMC. The WTC has decided to withdraw spots from all but their own 70.3 series events.
So.. if you were planning to qualify for IMC next year, you'll have to race one of the WTC's overpriced, overhyped, overcrowded (draught-fest) races. Yahoo!
IMC will be a complete gong-show with close to 3000 participants anyways...
